40 earn spring Academic All-OAC honors

AUSTINTOWN – 40 Heidelberg University student-athletes have been named Academic All-OAC for the spring sports season. To earn the award, the student athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing while maintaining varsity status and a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.

The men's track & field team led the way for all Heidelberg teams with 11 honorees.  David Brauer, Jesse Rudolph, Kevin Thompson, Dominic Frey, Jerrod Lyon, Jon Suter, Justin Mourguet, Nick Jones, Ren Boehler, Sean Humphreys, and Shane Boehler were all awarded.

The baseball team had eight selections. Seniors Adam Manner, Derek Hug, and Kyle Fluharty all earned the honor while Evan Long, Kyle Karaffa, Chaz Bova, Kyle Slovick, and Philip Frazier were selected as well.

Two members of the men's golf team were selected in Chase Hushour and Jonathan Sallee while the lone selection from the women's golf team was Christy Anzur.

The women's tennis team had six honorees, as Sofey Fugate, Allie Gales, Markilynn Hogle, Nicole Millar, Allison Costantino, and Catherine Harris were selected. The men's tennis team had one awarded, as Kyle Simpson earned the award for the second consecutive year.

The softball team had six selections as well, with Erin Chapman, Taylor Hicks, Mikaela Mitsch, Paige Atterholt, Haylee Patel, and Renee Lovett all honored.

Five members of the women's track team were awarded, as Baylee Garrett, Elizabeth Volz, Kassidie Roudebush, Nicole Tennison, and Rachel House were all selected.
