TIFFIN -- Three highly-decorated Student Princes will be inducted into the Heidelberg University Athletic Hall of Fame this month. John Rhoades '90, Bethany Zuchowski Rust '92, and Adam Koppin '00 comprise the 31st class to enter the hall.
The induction ceremony will take place on Friday, September 30, 2016, as part of the Homecoming celebration. A reception begins at 5 p.m. and dinner starts at 6 p.m. in the Wickham Great Hall. Tickets for the banquet are available online.
Rhoades excelled in football and track during his time on campus. He was a four-time national qualifier in pole vault -- earning a sixth-place All-American finish in 1989. In doing so, he became the first male All-American in the program's history. He earned three varsity letters on the gridiron and was named all-conference in 1989.
Zuchowski Rust remains the only three-time first team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree in the illustrious history of Heidelberg Volleyball. During her career, she tallied 1,015 kills, which is believed to be the most in program history at the time of her graduation. She was named Team MVP twice.
Koppin's name shows up throughout the record book for the cross country and track & field programs. He is the program's only four-time national qualifier in cross country and is a two-time All-American in indoor track.
In addition to the induction ceremony, the trio will be honored at halftime of the Homecoming football game on October 1 against Muskingum.
