AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- 45 spring student-athletes received Academic All-OAC honors, as announced on Monday. The recipients must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
The men's track and field team led the way with 12 selections. Jerrod Lyon, Ren Boehler, Shane Boehler, Justin Mourguet, Aaron Hellman, Ben Gutzky, Dom Frey, Wes Fritz, Kevin Thompson, Jesse Rudolph, Eric Peterson, and Kenny Beucler all earned the honor. Fritz and Beucler are two of the four finalists that will be competing in this weekend's NCAA Outdoor National Championships.
The women's track and field team had eight selections led by seniors Hayley Cochran, Elizabeth Volz, and Bethany Beaver. Ericka Kaimer, Rachel House, Baylee Garrett, Jessica Sucheck and Nicole Tennison were named as well.
Nine softball players earned the honor. Seniors Erin Chapman and Taylor Hicks, juniors Renee Lovett and Haylee Patel, and sophomores Ally Sumser, Morgan Daniels, Abby Barno, Joanna Catalano and Becca Radabaugh were tabbed as academic All-OAC. The team received the No. 2 seed in the OAC Tournament before falling in Game 3 of the tournament.
The baseball team had six selections -- Evan Long, juniors Kyle Slovick, Phillip Frazier, and Chaz Bova along with sophomores Brock Conner and Parker Fronk. The team finished one game shy of the OAC Tournament this season.
Jaret Miller was the lone selection from the men's golf team.
Christy Anzur was named from the women's golf team.
In its inaugural season, men's lacrosse saw Tyler Hammack named to the academic All-OAC team.
Three from the women's lacrosse team earned the honor -- senior Janessa Scott and sophomores Abby Rose and Pree Bryant.
Four seniors from the women's tennis team were tabbed as academic all-conference -- Markilynn Hogle, Summer Hunter-Kysor, Allie Gales, and Nikki Millar.
