AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Heidelberg University Athletics saw 32 student-athletes honored for their work in the classroom this fall by the Ohio Athletic Conference. To be eligible for academic All-OAC status, a student must be of sophomore class standing or higher, maintain varsity status, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Football earned the most selections with 11, while women's soccer collected eight, volleyball earned seven, and men's soccer, men's cross country, and women's cross country each earned two, respectively.
Seniors Trace Reynolds, Austin Baker, Jack Haley, Jermaine Burket, and Collin Pecoraro paced the football team. Reynolds, Haley, and Burket are all repeat selections to the Academic team. Juniors, Gabe Smythe, Isaac Goss, and Jayden Stanton earned the honors as well. Smythe was also selected as a sophomore. Additionally, sophomores Jacob Rings, Nick Cofer, and Jacob Rigsby were tabbed as well for the first times in their careers.
For the women's soccer team, seniors Amanda Kilway and Maddy Hines, juniors McKenzie Perry, Erica Campbell, Anna Chalkley, Amanda Sugrue and Kate Mundy, and sophomore Madison Zimmerman were all honored in 2018. Kilway, Hines, Perry, Campbell, and Sugrue are all repeat selections.
The Berg volleyball program was represented by seniors Morgan Strenk and Taylor Arbogast, juniors Kaylee Fredrickson and Mya Morris, and sophomores Lexi Whitney, Peyton Miller and Alyssa Edmond. Strenk, Arbogast, Fredrickson and Morris have all earned the honor in the past.
For men's soccer, sophomores Will Horvat and John Gall were selected for their academic honors for the first times of their careers.
Men's cross country is represented by senior Eric Peterson and sophomore Logan Kittaka. Peterson is a returning selection, while Kittaka is a first-time nomination.
Finally, for the women's cross country team, seniors Jessica Sucheck and Alexandra Chakov were selected. Sucheck earned a repeat selection, while Chakov was tabbed for the first time in her career.
