AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- A trio of lacrosse players from Heidelberg University earned OAC players of the week for their efforts over spring break as Jessica Ballow and Angela Lulejian swept the women's awards and Jaydon Septer took home the defensive nod for the men.
Ballow, a returning All-OAC goalie from last season, earned her second career player of the week honor in goal for the Student Princes. As a sophomore netminder, Ballow was tabbed as the defensive player of the week. Ballow collected a 1-1 record over the last two game stopping 15 shots for a 57.6% save percentage. Additionally, Ballow scooped up three ground balls outside the crease.
Lulejian, a sophomore attack, earned her first career offensive player of the week award after leading the Berg in scoring this past week en route to their first win of the season at Anderson University. Lulejian scored seven goals and collected 7 ground balls in two games. Furthermore, Lulejian forced four turnovers and controlled eight draws.
Septer, a freshman midfielder/face off, was an instrumental piece of the puzzle for the men's lacrosse team's first two wins of the season this past week. The face off specialist filled the stat line with 31 ground balls, three forced turnovers, a goal, an assist, and an outstanding 43-of-58 faceoffs won in the two games. Against Anderson last Wednesday, Septer set two new Heidelberg single-game school records with 24 faceoff wins and 20 ground balls against the Ravens. The award marked his first career recognition.
Ballow and Lulejian will lead the women's lacrosse team back home tomorrow for a 7 p.m. contest against Hiram College, while Septer will look to continue his tear for the men on Wednesday at 7 p.m. vs. Alma College. Both games will be played at Hoernemann Stadium.
