Baseball up to No. 16, Oldham grabs OAC honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- After a record-setting performance on Saturday, Heidelberg University center fielder Trevor Oldham was named Ohio Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.

In the third game of a weekend series against No. 19 Manchester, Oldham rapped three triples in his first three at bats, setting a school record and tying an OAC record.

His three-triple perfomance capped off a week in which the junior hit .571, scored six runs and drove in nine.  In addition to the triples, Oldham swatted two doubles and finished the week with a slugging percentage of 1.143.

Oldham was hit by six pitches during the week and had an on-base percentage of .714.

The 11-2 Student Princes, now ranked No. 16 by the American Baseball Coaches Association, went a perfect 4-0 during the week against regional powers Wooster and Manchester.  The game against Wooster, a 14-1 win, was the final game of Heidelberg's spring trip to Florida.

Oldham is the second 'Berg outfielder to garner a Hitter of the Week award.  Last week, Derek Hug won the award for his hot start to the 2014 season.

The Student Princes are scheduled to play a pair of non-conference games this week before OAC competition starts this weekend.  The Student Princes travel to Adrian on Tuesday and are slated to host Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday.  On Saturday, the Student Princes travel to Berea to face Baldwin Wallace.
