GREENSBORO, North Carolina -- After an astounding 2019 season, the Heidelberg University baseball team continued their postseason recognition on Tuesday of this week after being named an ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award recipient.
According to the American Baseball Coaches Association, 305 member college and high school programs from across all divisions were selected for the award. The award highlights programs coaches by ABCA members that posted a GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2018-19 academic year.
The College World Series qualifiers saw 12 student-athletes receive Academic All-OAC selection. The group was led by senior Parker Fronk who was also named the conference's Scholar Athlete of the Month in March.
Furthermore, for their efforts on the field, 11 Student Princes earned All-OAC recognition, five were selected All-Region and one - Matt Psychas - was even tabbed as an All-American.
The baseball team joins a lengthy list of Berg Athletics teams to earn an academic award from their respective coaches associations earlier this week. Women's lacrosse, women's volleyball, and women's track and field earned team distinctions. In addition, the men's track and field team saw two athletes selected as academic individuals.
