Career Synopsis

  • The 2017-18 school year is Palm's 19th at Heidelberg and his tenth as athletic director
  • Compiled a career record of 459-209-2 in 15 seasons as head baseball coach at Heidelberg
  • Named co-coach of the women's lacrosse program for the 2018 season

Administrative Highlights

  • Helped coordinate the creation of three new athletic venues -- the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex, Hoernemann Stadium & Fox Den Alumni Center, and Frann's Field - the softball facility
  • Raised funds and aided a nearly total renovation of the baseball field at Peaceful Valley
  • Serves on a number of campus committees, including the Heidelberg "Life Ready" Co-Curricular Program Development Team
  • Aided in the creation of the men's and women's lacrosse programs
  • Oversees the H Association, which raises funds for Heidelberg student-athletes

Coaching Highlights

  • Led Student Princes to five OAC regular season titles and four OAC tournament crowns
  • Took Heidelberg to six NCAA regional tournaments
  • Advance to NCAA Division III Championships in 2010
  • Coached 13 ABCA All-Americans, eight All-Americans and two ABCA National Golden Glove Award winners
  • Six-time OAC Coach of the Year and 2010 ABCA Mideast Coach of the Year
  • Prior to arrival at Heidelberg, had assistant coaching stints at Indiana University, Georgia State University and Emory University

Collegiate Experience

  • 1995 graduate of the College of Wooster
  • Played catcher and earned four varsity letters for coach Tim Pettorini
  • Had a career batting average of .332 with eight home runs, 101 RBI and 29 doubles
  • Hit .352 with 40 RBI as a senior
  • Two-time All-NCAC performer


  • Resides in Tiffin with wife Michelle
  • Has four children -- Sam, Nick, Cecilia and Charlie
  • Smithville High School graduate and Orrville native
  • Remains active in coaching of youth sports
