TIFFIN – Tony Morris and Cameron Vocke have been named co-special teams players of the week by the Ohio Athletic Conference for their outstanding performance in Heidelberg's 54-21 victory over Muskingum. The duo combined for a feat that is rarely seen, two blocked punts returned for a touchdown that were blocked by Morris both times and returned by Vocke for touchdowns.
Both occurred early in the 2nd quarter, which the Student Princes entered with a 13-0 lead. The Berg defense forced a three-and-out, and when Muskingum punter Sam Green went to kick it away, Morris broke through and blocked the ball into the air, which was caught by Vocke and returned for the touchdown to extend the Heidelberg lead.
On the very next Muskie drive, the Student Prince defense forced another three-and-out, and in a moment of déjà vu, Morris went unblocked to the punter again, blocking the punt, which was scooped up by Vocke and returned yet again for a Heidelberg score.
The Heidelberg University football team will take to the road this week in a pivotal OAC matchup with #3 Mount Union. That game in Alliance is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff, with presale tickets available at the Mount Union website.
