TAMPA BAY, Fla. - Heidelberg University alum Donteea Dye was promoted to the 53-man roster of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.  This promotion comes after Dye began the season as a member of the practice squad, which he was signed to after the preseason.

A 2015 Heidelberg graduate, Dye becomes the second Berg alum to be on an active NFL roster in the past few years, as fellow wide receiver Mike Preston played in the 2012 and 2013 seasons for the Tennessee Titans, most notably making a pair of touchdown catches in the 2013 season.

Dye was a 2014 second team d3football.com All-American for the Student Princes, also winning the OAC's Ed Sherman Award, given to the conference's top receiver.  He hauled in 57 passes for 1,022 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior, leading the Berg to an 8-2 record.  For his career, Dye had 116 receptions for 2,298 yards and 26 touchdowns.

For his career, Dye ranked second in Heidelberg history with 26 receiving touchdowns, just one behind Preston, who played for the Student Princes from 2007-2010.

Dye caught seven passes for 82 yards in the preseason for the Buccaneers.
