Warden and Baker earn OAC honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Austin Baker and Michael Warden have been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Players of the Week, as announced on Monday. Baker earned the honor on special teams while Warden took the defensive selection. The pair played a huge role in Saturday's 47-21 win over No. 9 John Carroll.

Baker, a junior transfer, made two 33-yard field goals in the win, which tied his career high. Scoreless in the first quarter, Baker fielded a high snap, avoided a tackle, and got off a 38-yard punt, downed at the 7 yard line. He also made five PATs in the victory.

Warden had himself a 21st birthday to remember -- registering five tackles and two interceptions. The second pick sealed the win for the Berg, as Warden stepped in front of a JCU pass and returned it 39 yards for a touchdown. The pick six gave HU a 40-14 lead with just over nine minutes to play.

Heidelberg, now ranked No. 24 in the D3football.com and AFCA Top 25, travels to Muskingum (1-3, 0-3 OAC) on Saturday. Kickoff in New Concord is scheduled for 1 p.m.
