With each passing day, the Heidelberg University football team continues to rake in national honors. Three Student Princes have been named to the Associated Press Little All-America Division III Team, as announced on Thursday. Seniors Austin Crow, Brock Riggs, and Cameron Vocke all received second team accolades.
Crow, named an AFCA All-American earlier this week, has picked up another honor to cap off his sparking career. The OAC's Defensive Lineman of the Year had 21 TFLs this season, totaling 83 yards, including a monstrous TFL on the final play from scrimmage on Senior Day.
Riggs receives the honor fresh off being crowned the 2017 Piesman Trophy winner. An offensive lineman, Riggs played a key part in paving the way for the Heidelberg offense. His Piesman selection was a result of his hook-and-lateral touchdown in the season finale, where he front flipped into the end zone.
Vocke, Mr. Everything for the 2017 team, was selected as an all-purpose player -- an honor befitting his role on the team. Vocke racked up 1301 all-purpose yards, scoring 15 touchdowns on the ground and three receiving touchdowns. The senior also threw for two touchdown passes from the wildcat formation. He also saw extensive action on special teams units -- and even tallied his first career punt in Week 10.
The trio joins Mike Preston (2010) as the only Heidelberg football players to be named to the Little All-America Team.
