Crusaders hang on to defeat Heidelberg

BEXLEY, Ohio - The Berg men's basketball team falls back to .500 with a 92-86 loss to the Capital Crusaders.

The Student Princes trailed for a majority of the second half but went on a 13-5 run in the closing 4:30 minutes of the game. Despite the Berg's offensive efforts, it was a seven point run by the Crusaders that propelled Capital to a six-point victory.

The Berg men were led offensively by seniors Keith Mackie and Mike Petrie. Petrie collected a team-high 21 points in the loss while Mackie accounted for 17 of the Berg's points.

Petrie finished with a team-high five rebounds and three assists. Mackie collected four boards, a team-high seven assists and one steal to accompany his 17 points.

Sophomore Deonte Holder was a huge component off of the Berg bench with 18 points, three assists and one steal.

The Berg men will return to Seiberling Gymnasium to host the Purple Raiders of Mount Union in their first home contest of the 2013-14 season. Tipoff between the Purple Raiders and the Student Princes is slated for 3:00 p.m on Saturday, December 7.
