Holder receives award following loss in championship game

CLEVELAND – The Heidelberg University men's basketball team fell to Penn State – Behrend, 73-48 in the championship game of the Bill Sudeck Holiday Tournament on Monday.

Mike Petrie was the lone Student Prince in double-figures, as he finished with 14 points.

Behrend (7-2) opened with a 10-2 run in the game's first three minutes. The Lions would push their lead to 18-6 on a fast-break layup, which prompted a Heidelberg timeout.

After Heidelberg (4-6) cut the deficit to four with just over six minutes remaining in the first half, Behrend closed with another 10-2 to lead 35-23 at intermission.

Behrend continued their success in the second half, leading by as many as 27.

Following the game, Deonte Holder was named to the All-Tournament team. Holder notched 29 points in the two games.

The Student Princes return to Ohio Athletic Conference action on Saturday, January 4. The Wilmington Quakers will travel to Tiffin for a 3 P.M. start.
