AUSTINTOWN – Kiere' Bennie was named second team All-OAC for the 2015-16 season, marking the second consecutive season he has earned All-Conference honors. The sophomore was last year's OAC co-freshman of the year while earning an honorable mention All-OAC nod.
Bennie averaged 13.8 points per game for the season and reached the 20 point mark six times on the year, including a career-high 31 points in a win over Westminster on November 20th. He ranked sixth in the OAC in free throw shooting at 84.3% and was fifth in steals per game with 1.4 per contest.
He ended the season with a very efficient final four games, which included an upset win over then-No. 23 Mount Union at home on February 13th. In those four games, Bennie averaged 16.3 points per game on 65.5% shooting from the field, including an impressive 61.5% from 3-point range.
Heidelberg concluded the 2015-16 season with a 14-12 overall record, a three win improvement over last year and seven wins better than head coach Andy Bucheit's first season in 2013-14.
