HARROD, Ohio – The Heidelberg University men's and women's golf teams got off to a chilly start for their Spring seasons, competing in the ONU Spring Classic over the weekend. The tournament began on Saturday, with the Sunday rounds getting cancelled due to the weather. The men finished Saturday 5th out of six teams while the women finished in eighth place.
On the men's side, freshman Henry Bourne had a solid start to his spring despite the weather. He carded a 79, which was the lowest score of any Heidelberg golfer as well as tying for 8th place overall for the tournament.Jack Eifel was next for the Student Princes with an 82 on the day, tying for 16th place overall, while Mark Anderson (86) and James Smith (89) rounded out the top four for the Berg.
For the women, Kerianne Murphy was the lowest score on the day for the Student Princes, carding a 94 for 18 holes. That put her in a tie for 16th place overall out of the 49 competitors. Freshman Taylor Lewis was the second-lowest score for the Berg with a 105 while Erin McGinty (113) and Tiffany Bates (119) were the rest of the top four for Heidelberg.
The next event for both the men's and women's teams will be on Thursday, April 2nd, when they compete in the Purple & White Invitational.
