MGOLF: Sikorski wins at CMU Invitational

VERONA, Penn. -- The Heidelberg University men's golf team opened the spring schedule with what amounted to two one-day tournaments at the Carnegie Mellon Invitation.  Competing against two different fields, Heidelberg was fourth on day one and third on day two.  Andrew Sikorski highlighted the weekend, winning medalist honors in the second round.  

On the first day, Heidelberg shot a 328 to place fourth.  Sikorski led The Berg with a 79, good for ninth overall.  Logan Dwelle was two strokes behind with an 81.  

Blake Kaffenbarger shot an 83 and Bryan Kennedy scored an 85 on Saturday.   Jaret Miller rounded out the quintet with an 86. 

On Saturday, Grove City College led the way with 321.  Medalist honors went to Nate Yackovich (71) from Saint Vincent. 

Saint Vincent took top honors on Sunday ith a 307, but Sikorski won individually with a +3 73.  Sikorski finished one stroke ahead of four others.  As a team, Heidelberg (314) tied for third with Point Park.  

Dwelle shot a 79 while Kennedy and Miller carded 81s.  Kaffenbarger came in with an 88.  

The Berg returns to action on April 8 at the John Carroll Invitational.
