BW too much for men's lacrosse

TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team could not find its momentum in a 24-2 loss to Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday evening. BW scored the final 16 goals of the game and outshot HU, 70-10.

BW tallied the first four goals of the game. With 6:01 remaining in the first quarter, freshman Nick Selfridge scored his 30th goal of the season to cut the deficit to 4-1. The visitors responded adding three more goals before the end of the first quarter.

Matt Wernerspach recorded the other goal for the Student Princes, his 27th of the year. The unassisted goal came with 7:09 before halftime. Heidelberg played the Yellow Jackets tough in the first half, trailing 9-2 at the break.

The story was all Baldwin Wallace in the second half. The Yellow Jackets maintained the tempo, scoring six times in the third quarter and nine in the final period.

Ryan Sinnema picked up five ground balls and caused two turnovers. Goalie Max Rennillo made 23 saves for the Berg.

Baldwin Wallace improves to 10-2, 5-1 in the conference. Heidelberg falls to 3-10, 0-5 in conference action.

The Student Princes travel to Capital University on Saturday. Game time in Bexley is scheduled for 1 p.m.
