TIFFIN -- Freshmen goalies Alex Bruder and Jessica Ballow have been named the OAC Defensive Players of the Week, as announced on Monday. The pair played key roles in both teams' victories over the weekend.
In her first collegiate game, Ballow was brilliant between the pipes, helping the women's lacrosse team to its first victory in program history. She made 13 saves in the 7-5 win over Concordia University (MI) on Sunday. Four of Ballow's saves came on free position shots.
Bruder was spectacular in his first collegiate start in the Berg's 16-2 win over Bethany College on Saturday. The freshman made 11 saves for a save percentage of 84.6%. Bruder made many fantastic saves when the game was still close early in the match. The win was Heidelberg's first home victory in history.
The women's team is back in action at Olivet College on Wednesday afternoon. The men will host Franciscan University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
