MLAX: Polar Bears ice Berg

TIFFIN --A dominant first half by Ohio Northern hurt the Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team in a 14-3 loss on Wednesday. The Polar Bears tallied eight goals in the first half to remain a perfect 4-0 in the OAC, 11-1 overall. HU slips to 7-5, 1-3 in conference play.

After the Polar Bears scored eight straight, Nick Selfridge put the Berg on the board in the waning seconds of the first half with his 32nd goal of the season.

Trailing 8-1 at the break, freshman Liam Weaver netted his 19th goal of the year off a pass from Hunter Edwards midway through the third. The strike cut the deficit to 8-2. Ohio Northern added two more goals in the third, the second coming with three tenths of a second on the clock.

Edwards scored the final Student Prince goal off a pass from Noah Messerall.

Zach Hopton and Chris Storrs each caused two turnovers for the Berg. Freshman goalie Alex Bruder made 15 saves in the loss

ONU outshot the Berg, 52-9, and was an efficient 13 of 19 on faceoffs.

With storms in the forecast for Saturday, the Student Princes have pushed their game up with Wilmington to Friday evening. HU will travel to Wilmington for a 6 p.m. start time.
