MLAX: Wernerspach nets two in road loss

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- The Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team fell at John Carroll University, 21-2 on Wednesday evening. With the loss, Heidelberg slips to 7-9, 1-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

The Blue Streaks scored the first 11 goals before the Berg got on the board. Senior captain Matt Wernerspach netted his 40th goal with a shot 7:44 before the half off a feed from Patrick McCarthy.

Heidelberg's second goal of the evening came from Wernerspach in the second half. The senior leads the team with 41 goals on the year.

JCU controlled the faceoff X, winning 17 of 25 faceoffs. The home team outshot the Berg, 48-14, and was 5 of 6 on extra man opportunities.

Heidelberg finishes its season on Saturday at Mount Union. First face off with the Purple Raiders is at 1 p.m.
