AUSTIN, Texas -- Defender Anthony Raimondo has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, as announced on Thursday. Raimondo is the fourth player in men's soccer program history to earn the distinction. The most recent selection was his brother, Greg, who received the honor in 2016. He will now move on to the national ballot.
Transferring to the Berg prior to his sophomore year, Raimondo has played in 36 games for HU, starting all 16 this season. The Parma native has played a key role in the back third over the past two seasons for head coach Pat Svihlik. He helped anchor a defensive line that gave Heidelberg a spot in the OAC Tournament. Raimondo double majors in mathematics and computer information systems.
To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 grade point average. CoSIDA members within a district vote for the Academic All-District teams with members of the CoSIDA Academic All-American committee voting on the national ballot.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America Team will be announced on Dec. 5.
