MSOC: Berg ends season on high note

NEW CONCORD -- The Heidelberg University men's soccer wrapped up their 2018 campaign with a 2-1 victory on the road at Muskingum University.

The Student Princes (6-8-2, 3-4-2 OAC) held a superior shot advantage over Muskingum (5-13, 0-9) by a final tally of 28-8, including a 13-2 edge in shots on goal.

The Berg got on the board in the 28th minute as Joseph Tallarico bagged his first goal of the season on a volleyed strike from outside the box. Antonio Demonte swung in a free-kick service which found the foot of Tallarico for the goal. Tallarico finished his career with 12 goals.

Just 11 minutes later, the Muskies knotted the match at one. Bailey Adams finished a Blake Horne service for the tying goal.

After taking the 1-1 scoreline into the break, Heidelberg came out firing on all cylinders registering three shots, before settling for a 58th minute corner. On the corner, Cory Gilbert served into the box, where Sam Federici was on-hand to convert to put the Berg back ahead.

The Student Princes enjoyed the lion's share of possession and attempts throughout the remainder of the match, but could not build on their lead, settling for the 2-1 win.

Jake Kress started in goal in his final match for Heidelberg, tallying one save. Kress finished his career with 232 saves and 17 shutouts.

Senior Porus Shroff on finishing off his career with a win: "It was great to go out with a W, boomsky."

The Berg concluded their season 6-8-2 overall, with a 3-4-2 conference record, good for eighth place in the OAC.
