Men's tennis battles Crusaders, Mother Nature

TIFFIN -- On Earth Day, it would have been nice for Mother Nature to cooperate.  Instead, howling winds and bitterly cold temperatures forced the men's tennis teams of Heidelberg University and Capital University to alter its scoring on Wednesday.  Capital emerged with a 9-0 win.

In doubles play, Capital's Luke Buchanan and Dale Booher slipped past HU's Ben Moore and Tyler Flickinger, 8-3.  Student Princes Paul Claymier and Jamie Cole also fell, losing 8-1 at seconds.  At thirds, the Kyles -- Kyle Simpson and Kyle Boone -- lost 8-0.

Singles play was changed to playing to 10 sets, rather than the traditional format.  Moore, Flickinger and Cole each dropped 10-2 matches, while Claymier lost 10-1.

Heidelberg wraps up regular season competition with a match at Otterbein on Saturday.  The contest is slated for a 1 p.m. start in Westerville.
