DAYTON -- The Heidelberg University men's and women's tennis teams opened competition for the 2019 spring season this morning in Dayton, Ohio at the Five Seasons Sports Club.

The match against Wittenberg University was originally scheduled as a home contest, but mother nature forced a move indoors to the available location in Dayton.

The women's team was defeated by the Tigers 9-0. Emmy Flottman-Mullen and Jillian Goulet took games in their singles matchups, but that would be the only scoring for the Berg on the day.

On the men's side, Witt emerged with the 9-0 decision once more. The doubles teams of Ryan Newman/Kyle Alexander and Porus Shroff/Tate Schoen each put up points for Heidelberg, while Newman, Shroff, Schoen, and JT Vaughan each scored in their singles matches. Unfortunately, the scoring was not enough to take a set from the Tigers.

The Student Princes will both be in action on Saturday, March 23 against Marietta College in their conference opener. The men will host the Pioneers, while the women will travel to Marietta. Both matches are slated for a 1 p.m. start time.
