TIFFIN -- Both Heidelberg University tennis teams were in action this afternoon in conference play. The men traveled to Muskingum University where they emerged with a 7-2 win, their first OAC win of the season. The women's fell at home to Capital University by a score of 7-2.
The men now hold a 2-4 overall record and are 1-3 in conference. The women slip to 2-6 on the season.
In New Concord, the men were led by Tate Schoen and Porus Shroff who won their singles matches after teaming up to defeat the Muskies in second doubles. Schoen won 6-2, 6-1 at second singles, while Shroff won 6-2, 6-0 at third. As a duo, the pair won second doubles 8-0. Ryan Newman (6-0, 6-0), Jordan Robbins (6-1, 6-0) and Diego Flores (forfeit) won their singles matches.
On the women's side, Heidelberg's two wins came in big part to Meridith Lucius. Lucius defeated Julia Holt at third singles in a big three-set match. After dropping the first, 6-2, she rallied back to take the next two sets, 6-4, 10-8. At second doubles, Lucius teamed up with Jillian Goulet to win 8-5.
The women will have a quick turn around as they welcome Muskingum to campus tomorrow afternoon starting at 4 p.m. The men will host Mount Union on Saturday at 1 p.m.
