Falcone wins hammer throw, both teams finish 11th

DELAWARE, Ohio – For the second straight weekend, the Heidelberg University track & field teams competed at a meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. Like last week, both teams finished in the same spot in the team standings. Heidelberg finished 11th at the All-Ohio meet.

WOMEN'S SPRINTS: Bethany Beaver dashed her way to a fifth-place finish in the 100 meter. She clocked a time of 12.68s. Taylor Dillon, who finished ninth in the 200 meter, came in third in the 400 meter. She finished in 59.33s.

WOMEN'S HURDLES: After placing ninth in the 110 meter hurdles, Catarina Orr took home fourth place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.48s.

WOMEN'S THROWS: Madison Haasz's second throw in the shot put, 40'4.25", was her best effort – good for fifth. In the hammer throw, Haasz picked up a third place finish with a distance of 162'2". Ally Blum took seventh in the discus with a toss of 124'3".

MEN'S MID-DISTANCE: Jacob Berryman scored three points for the men's team with a sixth place finish in the 800 meter. He clocked a time of 1:56.20.

MEN'S RELAYS: The 4x100 meter relay team – Michael Yoder, Jerrod Lyon, Ren Boehler and Austin Ball – raced to an eighth-place finish (43.48s). Lyon and Berryman joined De Churchya and Avery Gatchell in the 4x400 meter relay. The quartet came in eighth, crossing the line in 3:24.70.

MEN'S THROWS: Gage Falcone had a superb afternoon, taking first in the hammer throw and second in the discus. Falcone won the hammer by less than six inches. His second throw, which measured 180'2", beat out Baldwin Wallace's Tyler Burdorff's toss of 179'9". In the discus, his best throw – 142' – was beaten only by Otterbein's Zachary Dunlap.
