Gage Falcone wins discus at OAC Championships

ALLIANCE – On the first day of the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Heidelberg University's Gage Falcone became an OAC Champion and Ally Blum earned All-OAC status in the discus.  The men's track team sits in fifth place and the women's team is seventh. 

COMPLETED EVENTS

RELAYS:  The men's 4x800m relay team – Dylan Dombi, Tim Faiken, Avery Gatchell and Jacob Berryman -- finished fourth (7:53.53), earning five points for the team.   The women – Baylee Garrett, Rachel House, Harley Berlesky and Nichole Johnson -- came in fifth (10:16.15).

JUMPS:  Jerrod Lyon, a freshman, took fourth in the long jump.  His best mark, 6.65m, came on his third attempt. 

THROWS:  Gage Falcone won the discus with a mark of 47.94m.  Teammate Zach Felton placed fifth with a distance of 42.36m.  Ally Blum earned All-OAC status with her third place finish in the discus.   Her best throw was her third attempt, a mark of 42.09m. 

Madison Haasz chucked the javelin 37.01m, good for fifth place finish at the meet. 

PRELIMINARY QUALIFIERS

HURDLES:  In the women's 400m hurdles, Catarina Orr (1:05.56) finished first in prelims by more than two seconds.  On the men's side, Jon Suter (57.40s) and Ren Boehler (57.74s) qualified sixth and seventh. 

Orr won her heat in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.00s.  It was the fourth best time overall.

SPRINTS:   Bethany Beaver qualified in both the 100m and 200m dashes.  In the 100, she sits in fourth (12.68s), and in the 200, she is eighth (26.18s). 

In the 400m dash, Taylor Dillon won her heat (1:00.85) and sits in third heading into Saturday's finals.
