Women third, men sixth at ONU

ADA, Ohio – The men's and women's track team competed at the Joe Banks Invitational host by Ohio Northern University. The men were sixth and the women were third.

Women 200 Meter Dash: Freshmen Michaela Slone and Biniker finished seventh and eighth in the event with nearly identical times of 27.71 and 27.73.

Women 400 Meter Dash: Senior Taylor Dillon took home fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:01.09. Dillon has qualified for the OAC Championships.

Women 500 Meter Run: Baylee Garrett, a sophomore, won the 500 with a time of 1:25.06, just ahead of the runner up's time of 1:25.62. Garrett's time meets the OAC standard.

Women 800 Meter Run: In the 800, freshman Alexandra Dutton ran a 2:27.77, good for second. Dutton's time was a 2.5 seconds ahead of her seed time. Dutton has qualified for the OAC Championships.

Women 1000 Meter Run: Freshman Alexandra Chakov finished eighth with a time of 3:21.34. Chakov andAllie Dresser, who finished ninth, have qualified for the OAC Championships.

Women 3000 Meter Run: Sophomore Rachel House finished seventh with a time of 10:48.33, a full nine seconds better than her seed. House has qualified for the OAC Championships.

Women 5000 Meter Run: Freshman Amanda Elkins crushed her seed time by a minute, clocking a 19:30.22 – a second-place performance. She has qualified for conference. Juniors Elizabeth Volz (20:31.36) and Courtney Hughes-Ksenich (21:30.44) came in seventh and eighth.

Women 4x400 Meter Relay: Slone, Biniker, Dillon and Garrett came in second with a time of 4:10.39.

Women High Jump: Sophomore Olivia Hipp won, clearing 1.61m – a PR. Garrett was fourth with the height of 1.51m. Sophomore Victoria Wiggins was eighth, clearing 1.46m. All three have qualified for OACs.

Women Shot Put: Senior Madison Haasz won by nearly two meters. Her best toss, 14.33m, beat the runner-up's mark of 12.39m.

Women Weight Throw: Haasz's success in the shot was equaled in the weight. She won comfortably as her mark of 16.97m was well ahead of the next best throw of 15.50m.

Men 60 Meter Dash: Shane Boehler, a sophomore, finished third with a time of 7.15s. Boehler has qualified for the conference championships.

Men 400 Meter Dash: Junior Devaun Churchya finished fourth with a time of 52.03. He has qualified for OACs.

Men 800 Meter Run: Junior Jacob Berryman's time of 1:59.04 was good for fourth place and an indoor PR.

Men 1000 Meter Run: Sophomore Nick Jones was seventh, clocking a 2:44.06.

Men 3000 Meter Run: Finishing seventh, freshman Austin Neura came in at 9:20.71.

Men 5000 Meter Run: Sophomore Isaac Kuntz was third, second among collegiate competitors, with a time of 15:53.29.

Men 60 Meter Hurdles: Ren Boehler, a sophomore, came in eighth in the event with a time of 9:27 (8.97 in preliminaries).

Men 4x200 Meter Relay: Jerrod LyonBrian Utter, Ren Boehler and Shane Boehler took home third, clocking a 1:33.04.

Men 4x400 Meter Relay: The quartet of Avery GatchellTim Faiken, Berryman and Churchya were 0:00.32 off the lead, but finished second.

Men High Jump: Michael Bennett (1.98m), Wes Fritz (1.93m) and Dre Valliant (1.88m) were second, third and fifth. The marks were PRs for Bennett and Valliant.

Men Long Jump: Lyon leapt 6.19m for fifth. Derrow Sanders was eighth was a 5.88m.

Men Triple Jump: Kevin Thompson came in seventh with a mark of 12.18m.

Men Shot Put: Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology had four of the top five throwers in the shot. The only non-Fighting Engineer was Heidelberg's Zach Felton. His best throw, 14.81m, put him in second.
