DELAWARE - The Heidelberg University track & field teams competed at the Marv Frye Invitational on Sunday, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. After weather pushed the event from it's originally scheduled date of Saturday to Sunday, the Berg men placed 2nd as a team while the women came in fourth overall.
MEN 400 METER DASH - Jerrod Lyon set a new personal record with a time of 50.12 seconds, placing 3rd.
MEN LONG JUMP - Lyon scored points yet again for the Berg, placing third in the long jump with a best jump of 6.47 meters.
MEN SHOT PUT - Zack Felton set a new PR with a throw of 15.12 meters, easily winning the event by over three feet.
MEN DISCUS - Felton placed second with a throw of 41.13 meters while teammate Tristen Durr threw 38.55 meters, placing fourth.
MEN HAMMER THROW - Felton set yet another PR in the hammer and placed second with a throw of 49.24 meters.
WOMEN 1500 METER RUN - Alexandra Dutton placed third with a time of 4:59.37.
WOMEN SHOT PUT - Madison Haasz easily won the shot put with a throw of 13.92 meters (45'8''), which was more than six feet further than second place. Her throw broke the Heidelberg school record of 43'5.25'', which was held by Mary Beth Boyden, who set the record in 2013. Haasz now ranks 2nd in the country in the shot put.
WOMEN HAMMER THROW - Haasz won yet another event comfortably, throwing 52.26 meters in the hammer to capture the title.
WOMEN JAVELIN - Haasz's throw of 34.83 meters placed her in second.
UP NEXT: Heidelberg will be right back in Delaware at Ohio Wesleyan University next weekend as they compete at the All-Ohio Championships.
