ADA, Ohio – The Heidelberg University men's and women's track teams each took fifth at the Polar Bear Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University. It was the team's final tune up before next weekend's OAC Championships hosted by Wilmington College.
Ten teams competed on both sides of the invitational. Here is a recap of Heidelberg athletes that finished in the top five.
Women 200 Meter Dash: Taylor Dillon took home a second-place finish in the 200 with a 25.92 – a personal record for the senior.
Women 400 Meter Dash: Baylee Garrett won the 400 with a time of 1:00.12 – a personal record.
Women High Jump: Olivia Hipp leapt her way to a first-place finish in the high jump. She set a PR by clearing 1.62m. Garrett was fourth with a height of 1.47m
Women Shot Put: Madison Haasz was fifth in the shot, second among D3 throwers. Her best throw measured 12.57m.
Women Hammer Throw: It was a third place finish for Haasz in the hammer, tops among D3 throwers. Her best throw was 51.51m.
Men 200 Meter Dash: Shane Boehler set a PR in the 200 with a 22.34, good for fourth place.
Men 800 Meter Run: Tim Faiken ran to a fourth-place finish in the 800 with a time of 1:59.49.
Men 4x400 Meter Relay: Heidelberg's A relay – Aaron Schulz, Faiken, Cameron Weaks and Devaun Churchya – won with a time of 3:29.30. The B relay team – Eric Peterson, Jacob Ferrebee, Nick Jones and Valliant – was third with a 3:39.04.
Men Long Jump: Lyon (6.34m) and Bennett (6.29m) were second and third among attached athletes. Bennett's mark was a personal record.
Men Triple Jump: Bennett's standout day continued was also marked by a third-place finish in the triple jump. His mark of 13.20m was a personal record.
Men Shot Put: Zack Felton was third among attached athletes. His best throw was 15.67.
