Track teams open competition at OAC Championships

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Heidelberg University track & field teams opened up competition at the OAC Championships on Friday. A number of Student Princes qualified for Saturday's finals in Friday's preliminary rounds while Madison Haasz and the men's 4x800 meter relay squad picked up All-OAC finishes in Friday's final events.

WOMEN JAVELIN: Haasz set a new PR on her third attempt, throwing 39.12 meters. That distance would have won the event, but Mount Union's Veronica Clutter threw 39.79 meters on her final attempt to claim the title while Haasz earned All-OAC honors with second place finish.

MEN 4x800 METER RELAY: Heidelberg's team of Dylan Dombi, Eric Peterson, Tim Faiken, and Jacob Berryman earned an All-OAC finish, placing third with a time of 7:52.45.

WOMEN 400 METER DASH PRELIMS: Both Taylor Dillon (58.9 seconds) and Baylee Garrett (59.77 seconds) qualified for Saturday's finals after placing in the top eight.

MEN 400 METER DASH PRELIMS: Jerrod Lyon was fourth overall in prelims with a time of 49.83 seconds to qualify him for finals on Saturday.

MEN 400 METER HURDLES PRELIMS: Kenny Beucler (55.49 seconds) and Jon Suter (57.84 seconds) placed in the top eight in qualifying.
