TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University indoor track & field team kicked off the 2016-17 campaign at an unscored meet at crosstown Tiffin University. Even though the competition included many Division II athletes, the Student Princes still nabbed 12 top-5 finishes.
WOMENS 500 METERS: Sarah Hunter took top honors with a 1:21.34, besting Cedarville's Hanah Johnson by 0:00.3 seconds. Baylee Garrett was fourth with a time of 1:26.09.
WOMENS 300 METERS: Michaela Slone was second and Allison Schwarzbek was the fifth-best attached runner in the 300. Slone ran a 43.84 and Schwarzbek had a 45.25.
200 METERS: Ren Boehler was the third-best attached sprinter, running a 23.31. Among affiliated female runners, Kelsey Grove was fifth, clocking a time of 27.18.
4x400 METER RELAY: Heidelberg's men took second place, first among Division III schools, with a 3:28.45. First in Division III and third overall, the women's relay team clocked a 4:12.80.
HIGH JUMP: On the men's side, Wes Fritz tied for third, clearing 1.98m. On the women's side, Olivia Hipp cleared 1.60m, good for second place.
