ADA -- The Heidelberg University indoor track & field competed at the Ohio Athletic Conference North Split Meet. The men's team finished third and the women's team was fifth. The meet was highlighted by five wins and 13 top-3 finishers, highlighted below.
"It was a good day to compete against some conference schools. We had a lot of PRs across the board. It's an encouraging sign for such a young team at our first meet back from break," said head coach Joe Yoder. "We have a few gaps that need to be filled but I am confident our team will get the job done."
Men 3000 Meter Run: Austin Neura outran the competition in the 3k. Neura had a time of 8:54.43, a full three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Women 400 Meter Dash: Sarah Hunter won the event by over four seconds with a time of 0:59.36.
Men High Jump: Wes Fritz claimed victory in the high jump. He was the only athlete to clear the bar at 6-8.
Men 500 Meter Run: Beucler nabbed a third-place finish in the 500. Beucler clocked a time of 1:08.60.
Men 800 Meter Run: Tim Faiken hustled to a third-place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:04.89.
Women 4x200 Meter Relay: Bethany Beaver, Michaela Slone, McKenzie Biniker, and Kelsey Grove led the team to a second-place finish with a time of 1:49.45.
Men Triple Jump: Kevin Thompson -- the Student Senate President -- was second in the triple jump. Thompson's third attempt was his best -- a distance of 40.75 feet.
Women 60 Meter Dash: Beaver finished third with a time of 8.14.
Women 4x400 Meter Relay: Slone, Biniker, Hunter, and Baylee Garrett put together a second-place finish with a time of 4:11.95.
Men Weight Throw: Ben Gutzky took third in the weight with a toss of 52-8.25.
Women High Jump: Olivia Hipp took second with a jump of 5-3.
