XC competes at OAC Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday morning. The women finished third overall while the men took home fifth place.

Rachel House and Hayley Cochran paced the women's team with times of 22:14.6 and 22:16.6. House finished third overall as Cochran finished fifth. Dani Blum was next for the Berg in 12th place with a time of 22:42.3.

Amanda Elkins (23:58.5) and Miranda Shaffer (24:05.5) were next for HU. Courtney Hughes-Ksenich and Jessica Sucheck rounded out the scoring with times of 24:14.8 and 24:40.2

On the men's side, Isaac Kuntz finished sixth overall with a time of 25:58.5. Freshman Austin Neura was next for the Berg who ran a 26:18., finishing 12th overall.

Dom Frey (27:17.0) and Devon Jester (27:36.6) followed for the Student Princes. Next for Heidelberg was Jacob Ferrebee with a time of 27:42.2. Joel Studer and Eric Peterson rounded out the men's scoring with times of 27:45.9 and 27:58.8.

With their impressive finishes, House, Cochran, and Kuntz were all named First Team All-OAC. Blum and Neura were tabbed as Second Team All-OAC selections.

Both teams will travel to Hope College for the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional. The race on November 12th begins at 12:30 p.m.
