HOLLAND, Mich. -- The Heidelberg University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional hosted by Hope College. The men's team finished 15th overall while the women finished 17th.
Freshman Austin Neura paced the men's team finishing 31st overall with a time of 25:32.9. Next for HU was senior Isaac Kuntz, who ran a 26:20.6. Devon Jester (26:34.4), Dom Frey (26:42.0), and Jacob Ferrebee (26:53.7) followed up for the Student Princes. Eric Peterson (27:40.2) and Joel Studer (29:14.7) rounded out the team for the Berg.
On the women's side, Hayley Cochran led the way running a 23:16.8, good for 55th overall. Senior Dani Blum (23:17.7) and junior Rachel House (23:21.6) were close behind, finishing 56th and 58th. Amanda Elkins ran a 24:27.4 while Courtney Hughes-Ksenich ran a 24:31.1. Miranda Shaffer (25:05.7) and Jessica Sucheck (25:31.9) rounded out the HU team.
Head coach Brian Grime on the regional performance: "I thought we had some really good performances on both sides ... It wasn't our best day, but we outperformed last year. I am excited about our returners, especially on the men's side."
The race concludes the cross country season for both the men's and women's team.
