Anchored by a core of talented returners, the Heidelberg University men's and women's cross country teams look for a successful 2017 season. Under the direction of second year head coach Brian Grime, the teams will look to their upperclassmen this year.
On the men's side, senior Isaac Kuntz returns for the Berg. A season ago, Kuntz was a first team All-OAC performer after finishing sixth at the OAC Championships. The team also returns Austin Neura, a second team all-conference runner last season.
The women's team is led by senior Rachel House, who took home third place at the OAC Championships a season ago. House was the OAC Freshman of the Year in 2014 and earned trip to Nationals. She will look to achieve the feat in her final season.
In the Ohio Athletic Conference preseason poll, the men's team was predicted to finish fifth while the women's team was picked sixth in the conference. Last season at the OAC Championships the women took home third as the men took fifth place.
Heidelberg will host two home meets this season. The first is the Tiffleberg open, which will be held on Sept. 16. Heidelberg will also be hosting the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship meet on Oct. 28. Both meets will take place at the Clinton Heights Golf Course.
Both teams kick off the season at the Bluffton Invitational on Sep. 1.
