TIFFIN -- Three top-ten performances led the Heidelberg University cross country teams at the Tiffleberg Open on Saturday afternoon. Austin Neura took home second place, as Isaac Kuntz finished fifth and Rachel house placed fourth on the women's side.
The men's team finished fourth overall as the women's team took seventh.
The race was held at Clinton Heights Golf Course, the site of this year's Ohio Athletic Conference Championship race in October.
Neura's time of 25:22.8 gave the sophomore a second place finish. Kuntz was not far behind, turning in a time of 25:53.1 to take fifth. Dom Frey (24, 27:08.8), Kyle Manuel (28, 27:20.8), and Jacob Ferrebee (29, 27:21.5) were the next three to cross the line for the Student Princes. Dylan Wiechart , Douglas Petrick, Andrew Symonds, and Tim Faiken all finished within a 37-second span placing 48th through 59th.
"We're a lot better than we ran today," said head coach Brian Grime. "It was a good start and we had good performances, but we need to continue to improve."
House led the women's team with a time of 22:51.1. Miranda Shaffer (23, 24:52.8) and Amanda Elkins (25, 24:56.1) finished next for the Berg. Jessica Sucheck, Alexandra Chakov, Nicole Tennison, and Taylor Rodriguez also competed for HU.
"We didn't have our full roster today, but we are getting better every week," said Grime on the women's performance. "I was really impressed with some performances and we're going to keep working hard."
Both teams will race at the All-Ohio Championships at Cedarville University on Sept. 29.
