XC: House wins, Neura second at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Indiana -- Rachel House and Austin Neura started the 2018 season strong for the Heidelberg University cross country teams at the Sodexo Grizzly Invitational, hosted by Frankin College.  House won the women's 6K and Neura was the runner-up in the men's 8K.  The teams were bolstered by strong efforts by freshmen.

As a team, the men finished fifth and the women were seventh.  

House won by 18 seconds, finishing with a time of 22:39.10.  Freshman Brittany Roth was the next Student Prince across line -- running 24:25.20 for sixth.  

Jessica Sucheck clocked a 26:58.40 to finish 45th overall, 41st in scoring.  

Quinnlyn Conley (28:19.80) and Taylor Rodriguez (28:42.90) rounded out the scoring for Heidelberg, 53rd and 57th, respectively.  

On the men's side, Neura finished in 26:39.60 -- less than 10 seconds behind the winner, Kiehl Smith (Albion). 

Freshman David Drushal was 13th with a time of 27:52.00 to finish as Heidelberg's second finisher.  Coming in third for the Tricolor was sophomore Dylan Wiechert with a time of 28:41.80 -- 26th in scoring.  

Dakota Freeman was next for The Berg, clocking a 29:13.50 (31st).  Eric Peterson was HU's fifth with a time of 29:23.00 (34th).

The Student Princes are idle next weekend before returning to action at the Tiffleberg Invitational, co-hosted by HU and Tiffin University.  The event will be held at Clinton Heights Golf Course.
