Simmons Gloves All-OAC Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Heidelberg University sophomore Lisa Simmons was decorated with mention All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors for the second time in her career. The second baseman marks 'Berg softball's only 2014 All-OAC selection, and 28th All-OAC recipent in program history.

Simmons, a Westerville native, helped the Student Princes and sixth year head coach Betsy Hada finish 25-13 (9-9 OAC), breaking the program's all-time win record.

Batting in the two spot, Simmons finished with a .351 batting average and a stellar .390 average against OAC hurlers. She collected 39 hits, 17 RBI's, six doubles, and three triples in 122 plate appearances.

Defensively, Simmons was a mainstay in the four spot. The former Westerville North Warrior helped The Berg turn three double plays while committing only three errors in conference play.

The Student Princes narrowly missed the OAC Tournament which would have been their first berth of the Hada era.

The Student Princes bid farewell to one of the most decorated players in program history, Jami Wagner, but with a slue of freshmen and sophomores, Simmons and her teammates will hope to usher in a new era of 'Berg softball in 2015.
