Clermont, Fla. -- Kaitlyn Moore did damage at the plate and in the circle to help the Heidelberg University softball team sweep on Wednesday afternoon. The freshman hit two home runs and struck out nine in a complete game shutout. The team defeated Sage in five innings 12-0 before dropping Elizabethtown 7-1 in game two.
With the wins, the Student Princes improve to 6-2 this season.

GAME ONE: Heidelberg 12 Sage 0
The off day did not hinder the Heidelberg offense, as they put a seven spot up in the top of the first inning. With the bases loaded, Kaitlyn Moore laid a bunt back to the pitcher, allowing Renee Lovett to slide home ahead of the throw. Catalano followed with a single to left to score Morgan Daniels.
A hit by pitch and a walk brought the score to 4-0. Bailey Smith hit Catalano home on a fielder's choice to tack on a fifth run. HU added two more on a fielding error to complete the explosive first inning.
A wild pitch brought in Casey Moore in the top of the second to add to the Berg lead
Catalano and Kelsey walked and Haylee Patel reached on an error to start the third. Smith reached on a Gator error to bring home Catalano.
Kaitlyn Moore belted a deep home run to center in the top of the fifth to cap off the HU scoring at 12. The shot brought in Kaitlyn's sister Casey who reached after being drilled in the foot.
Kaitlyn Moore improved to 2-2 with the win. The freshman fanned nine in five innings of work.
GAME TWO: Heidelberg 7 Elizabethtown 1
With one out in the bottom of the second, Catalano reached on an error. Patel ripped a single to right to advance Catalano to third. Patel stole second, putting two runners in scoring position for Kelsey. Kelsey sent a dribbler up the middle to score both runners and put the Tricolor up 2-0.
Lovett and Erin Chapman advanced 60 feet on a beautiful sacrifice bunt by Casey Moore to start the third. Lovett raced home on a wild pitch to put the Berg up by three. The Elizabethtown catcher sent the ball past the pitcher covering home, scoring Chapman on the error.
Kaitlyn Moore added to the scoring with a homer to left centerfield -- her second of the day. On the next pitch, Catalano sent a towering fly ball over the left field fence for a 6-0 HU advantage.
The Student Princes tacked on their seventh run in the bottom of the fourth. Smith and Taylor Hicks led off the inning with singles. Chapman stayed red hot at the plate with a base hit through the right side to plate Smith.
Elizabethtown scored their lone run in the bottom of the sixth -- an unearned run off starter Chapman. With the win, the senior improves to 3-0 this season.

Heidelberg wraps up their spring trip tomorrow morning with games against Misericordia and Haverford. Game times are slated for 8 and 10:30 a.m.
