AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Though her playing career has concluded, praise continues to roll in for Heidelberg University women’s basketball player Kathleen Phillips. For the first time in her illustrious career, Phillips was tabbed as an All-OAC First Team selection.
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – If there was a marquee outside of the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center, it would have read, "Phillips vs. Spahar." The two top scorers in the OAC, Heidelberg's Kathleen Phillips and John Carroll's Missy Spahar, were matching up for the final time.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – After Mother Nature forced the Heidelberg University women's basketball team to sit idle for a week, the Student Princes began the second half of OAC action with a 68-58 loss at Capital University on Wednesday.
TIFFIN – Heidelberg University women's basketball team's 69-64 loss to Baldwin Wallace had all the markings of a moral victory. After all, the Student Princes haven't defeated the Yellow Jackets in over a decade.
After a sluggish start, the 'Berg rolled to an 87-75 victory at North Park University on Friday. Four Student Princes finished in double-figures, led by Kathleen Phillips' game-high 21 points. Megan Miller had 16 points and Carli Patrick and Allie Hawkins each had 10 points.
TIFFIN – As the adage goes, it's not how you start, it's how you finish. For the second game in a row, the Heidelberg University women's basketball team rallied from a double-digit deficit to win.
On Monday night, Westminster College built an 11-0 lead before Heidelberg thundered back and won 77-66.
TIFFIN – The Heidelberg University women’s basketball team fell to John Carroll University 91-79 in Seiberling Gymnasium on Wednesday evening. Trailing by double digits, the Student Princes managed to cut the JCU lead to seven twice in the second half, but the No. 24-ranked Blue Streaks pulled away.
Heidelberg (6-1, 1-1 OAC) upended Mount Union, 73-66, snapping a 12-game losing streak to the Purple Raiders. Mount Union was picked by the coaches to finish fourth while the Student Princes were picked to finish tenth.
TIFFIN – In their home opener, the Heidelberg University women's basketball team lost their first contest of the season on Wednesday, falling to Capital University, 75-59. After a tight first half, the Crusaders pulled away with an up-tempo pace in the second half.
BLUFFTON – The Heidelberg University women's basketball team continues to find a way to win. The Student Princes used overtime to defeat Bluffton University 84-77. The win gives Heidelberg their first 5-0 start since 2005-06.
OBERLIN – Five players scored double-figures as the Heidelberg University women's basketball team filled the stat sheet in a 98-91 win at Oberlin on Tuesday. The 98-point eruption was the highest output by the Heidelberg offense since a 110-60 win against Concordia in 1991.
