TIFFIN – Marisa Liburdi has been selected as this week's Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball player of the week, as announced by the conference on Monday. The senior was a solid presence in the post for the Student Princes this past week as they opened up OAC play with a pair of home victories.
Liburdi averaged 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game for the week as the Berg knocked off John Carroll and Muskingum to start conference play.
In the 79-62 victory over JCU on Wednesday, Liburdi recorded her third double-double of the season and the fourth of her Heidelberg career. The Lapeer, Michigan native scored 17 points and pulled down 10 boards while tying a career-high with three assists.
She followed that up with another strong performance on Saturday against Muskingum, finishing one rebound shy of another double-double. Liburdi finished with a game-high 14 points and nine rebounds while also recording four blocks in the win.
Liburdi currently leads the conference with her 62.7% shooting from the field thus far and also ranks third in rebounding (9.3 per game) and fourth in blocks (8).
The Heidelberg women's basketball team will look to continue their strong start to OAC play when they host Mount Union on Wednesday night. That contest is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., following the men's game that tips-off at 5:30 p.m. in Seiberling Gymnasium.
