Women's basketball suffers road loss

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Heidelberg University women's basketball team suffered a 75-43 loss to Trine University on Wednesday. The Thunder remained in control for a majority of the game. The Student Princes fall to 1-3 while Trine improves to 4-1.

Senior Cassidy Frank led Heidelberg with 11 points off the bench -- going 3-6 from beyond the arc. Classmate Maggie Davault added 10 points.

After falling behind early, a Marisa Liburdi layup, back to back threes from Davault, and a Carli Patrick layup gave HU a 10-6 advantage. The Thunder would go on to score the last 10 points of the first quarter, leading 18-10.

Trine would take a commanding 34-16 lead into halftime, outscoring the Berg 14-4 in the second quarter.

The Thunder would go on to build a lead, controlling the rest of the game.

Heidelberg shot 22% from the floor compared to Trine's 52%. The Thunder capitalized off the 20 HU turnovers, scoring 27 points.

The Berg commences OAC action on Saturday when they host Otterbein. Tipoff against the Cardinals is scheduled for 3 p.m.
