CRESTVIEW HILLS, Kentucky -- A week after opening the season at No. 13 Hope, the Heidelberg University women's basketball team's arduous early-season schedule continued on Saturday. The Berg lost to No. 5 Thomas More College, 94-60, as part of the Julie Costello Memorial Tournament.
Heidelberg fell to 1-3, while the Saints improved to 3-1.
The hosts -- one year removed from a national championship -- shot a resounding 50.4% from the floor and outrebounded the Tricolor, 49-31.
Junior Alyssa Riley poured in 19 points for the second straight game, raising her season average to 14.0 points per game. Brooke Beamer added 10 points and five assists. Madelyn Crawford also chipped in 10 points while tallying a team-high seven boards.
Riley dialed it up from long-range four times. Brittanie Ulmer was a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.
The Saints also had three players in double figures, led by reserve Emily Schultz's 18 points.
On Sunday, Heidelberg will take on Saints of a different kind -- facing Saint Mary's College (1-3). The Berg and the Belles will tip off at 2 p.m.
