WBB: 2018-19 Women's Basketball Preview

AUSTINTOWN -- The Heidelberg University women's basketball team will hope to continue to improve this campaign as they look to build upon a 4-21 record a year ago. Head coach Morgan Harrigan returns to the sidelines for her sixth season at the helm, hoping to see expanded contributions from her sophomore, junior, and senior contingent.

Three Heidelberg players averaged double-digit points per game last campaign. Junior Brittanie Ulmer lead the way with 10.5 per contest, while senior Alyssa Riley and junior Maddy Crawford each collected 10.4 per game. Crawford averaged a double-double last season. In addition to her 10.4 ppg, she pulled down 10 boards per game as well.

Seniors Aianna Wilson and Lajanae Morman will look for continued contributions this season. Wilson averaged 5.4 ppg in her 24 starts. Morman chipped in with 2.0 rpg last season in her role off the bench.

Additionally, looking to contribute this season in larger roles are juniors Leah Bouillon and Leia Moore, and sophomores Brooke Beamer, Mattie Overmyer, and Hannah Kilps. Each of these ladies played in at least 15 games last year.

THE SCHEDULE: The Student Princes will open their season away to Olivet College on Friday, November 9. The squad will travel to the University of Chicago on November 16-17 for the Midway Classic. On November 21, Berg will welcome Bluffton University to Seiberling Gymnasium for their home opener. OAC play will commence on November 28th, home to Baldwin Wallace University. In total, the Berg women will play 26 contests this season.

IN THE POLLS: Heidelberg was selected to finish in a tie for 9th in the conference with 13 points. Berg was picked evenly with Muskingum University, who finished one spot above the Student Princes last campaign. Baldwin Wallace was picked to top the league with 74 points and four first place votes. In addition to BW's four, there was a wide spread of first-place votes as Marietta picked up three and Capital, Mount Union, and John Carroll each received one.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN: Coach Harrigan welcomes 29 women to camp this season. By class -- 12 freshmen, eight sophomores, six juniors, and three seniors. By hometown -- 28 are from Ohio and one hails from Nevada.
