WG: Simpson second, Berg fifth at OACs

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio -- Paced by a runner-up finish by Autumn Simpson, the Heidelberg University women's golf team took fifth at the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Championships at River Greens Golf Course. Friday's rain forced the three-round event to be played with 27 holes on both Saturday and Sunday.

Simpson shot an 86-81-79--246, five strokes off the lead. Her second-place finish is thought to be the highest finish at OACs in program history.

Alexis Julien shot an 84-87-92--263, placing 17th overall. Morgan Fultz, the model of consistency, carded a 91-91-91--273. She placed 24th.

Megan Brugnone was 38th with a 96-101-98--295. Charlotte Sypula rebounded from a tough first round, shooting a 111-97-93--301, finishing 39th.

As a team, Heidelberg shot 357-356-355--1068.

Mount Union won the event with a 339-325-329--993, paced by medalist Rachel Markle's 84-78-79--241.
