HIRAM, Ohio -- After an 11-day hiatus, the Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team was back in action -- making their first-ever road trip. The team suffered a 21-3 loss to Hiram College on Sunday afternoon.
Dana Dudley recorded a hat trick for the Student Princes in the losing effort.
The Terriers scored six times in the first ten minutes to break out to a commanding lead. Hiram tacked on five more goals before the end of the first half -- three of which came on free position shots.
Heidelberg got on the board with 4:24 before the break on Dudley's first goal of the game, an unassisted strike.
Hiram came out of the halftime break strong, recording four more goals in the first ten minutes of play.
Dudley tacked on another unassisted goal with 18:00 remaining. Dudley's final goal of the game came with 5:30 to play off a pass from Katelin Romick.
Dudley took six shots and caused three turnovers. Scott and Anna Winnicki each caused two turnovers for HU.
Sierah Ray and Autumn Osgood led the Terrier offense with seven goals each.
Hiram improves to 1-1 while the Berg falls to 0-2.
Heidelberg will host Alma College on Mar. 22. Game time at Hoernemann Stadium is slated for 4 p.m.
