WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- In the middle of a three-game road trip, the Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team lost to Otterbein University, 18-8, on Saturday. Angela Lulejian scored a team-high three goals in the loss.
After starting 4-0, the Student Princes have dropped two straight, standing 4-2, 0-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Otterbein improved to 4-5, 1-0.
The Cardinals took a 4-0 lead before Dana Dudley scored on a free position attempt with 12:29 left in the half. Down 7-1, Lulejian's first goal came on a man-up opportunity with just over eight minutes left before half. Jen Kovarik notched her first goal of the game with three minutes before half, finishing a feed from Bri Casement.
Down 15-3 early in the second half, Kovarik buried a free position shot for her second. Dudley and Abby Rose notched free position goals in a two minute span, cutting the Otterbein lead down to 16-6. Dudley and Kovarik each had two goals.
Following two more Cardinal goals, Lulejian finished her hat trick with two goals, including one assisted by Jenna Carman.
In goal, Jessica Ballow saw 34 shots, including 29 on goal. She made 11 saves.
Heidelberg's next game -- on the road at Lourdes -- had a schedule change. The game will be played on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
