SYLVANIA, Ohio -- On a rainy evening, the Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team fell on the road to Lourdes University, 13-4. The loss is the Berg's third straight, after starting the season 4-0.
Junior Jen Kovarik scored a hat trick for the Student Princes and now has 15 goals on the season, tied for most on the team.
After falling behind 1-0, Kovarik tied the score with her first strike of the evening.
With 17 minutes remaining before the break, Anna Winnicki tallied her 15th goal of the season off a pass from Angela Lulejian. The shot evened the score at two. Lourdes added two more goals before halftime.
The Berg saw a narrow 4-2 deficit at the half evaporate, as the home team scored nine goals in the second half. Lourdes held Heidelberg to just two goals in the period, both coming off the stick of Kovarik.
Freshman goalie Jess Ballow made a number of saves in the match, tallying 14. Winnicki, Lulejian, and Dana Dudley each finished the night with four draw controls.
The Student Princes are back on their home turf on Friday for an OAC matchup with Muskingum. Game time against the Muskies is scheduled for 1 p.m.
